It focuses on prevention strategies with self-defense options that can be used as a last resort if you were attacked. Women are taught to pay attention to their surroundings, be assertive and vigilant, and follow their gut instinct to say no — even if it means appearing “rude.” Participants also learn a variety of physical moves, including kicks, elbow jabs and techniques to wiggle from an attacker’s grasp. Instructors are Hilliard police officers. Class is free and for women only age 15 and older. Must attend both nights of the class.
