Discover Technology That Changes Lives
Join us for an exciting 3-session coding camp where technology meets care! Whether you're a complete beginner or have some coding experience, this hands-on program welcomes students of all genders, abilities, and skills to explore the fascinating world of technology, programming, and problem-solving. We provide all equipment and materials. You just need your curiosity and enthusiasm.
What Makes This Camp Special?
Our camp goes beyond basic coding lessons. We believe the most powerful technology is built when we understand real-world problems and create solutions that make life better for everyone. Over the 3 sessions, you'll work with sensors, artificial intelligence, and Python programming to build projects that could help people in your community.

Python for Everyday Problems
Python is one of the most popular programming languages in the world. It's powerful yet beginner friendly. We'll use Python to solve two practical challenges that affect real people:
1.Interactive Budget Manager: Learn essential money management skills by building a program that helps you make smart financial decisions. You'll create an interactive shopping experience where you:
a. Set a budget limit and track your spending as you choose items.
b. Calculate costs automatically, so you always know how much you have left
c. Make decisions about priorities and trade-offs: Do you buy the concert ticket or save for new headphones or your D.C. field trip?
d. See instantly if you're staying within your limit or need to adjust your choices
This hands-on approach teaches critical thinking about money while showing you how technology can solve everyday problems. The skills you develop are ones you'll use whether you're planning a trip, managing an allowance, or eventually paying bills.
2.Temperature Converter & Weather Helper: Start with something surprisingly powerful—converting temperatures between Fahrenheit and Celsius using just a few lines of code. You'll be amazed at what you can create! Once you've built the basic converter, you'll experiment and expand it to make it truly useful:
a. Add if/else statements that give special messages for extremely hot or cold temperatures ("That's freezing! Stay inside!" or "It's scorching outside!")
b. Include error handling so if someone types a word instead of a number, your program prints a helpful error message instead of crashing
c. Go beyond simple conversion—make your program recommend outfits based on the weather temperature (shorts and t-shirt weather? Winter coat time?)
By understanding these basics, you already have the power to create something useful. You'll see how even simple programming concepts can solve real-world problems and help people make better decisions about their day.
