Level Objectives
Appropriate safe entry
- Students will learn how to enter the pool safely, and when it is safe to enter the water.
Bubbles
- Students learn appropriate breath control for submerging under water.
Flutter kick 1 yard assisted
- Students will use a kick board, pool noodle or instructor's hands. The head does not need to be submerged.
5 bobs assisted
- Instructor will assist student in preparing to go under water, submersion, and resurfacing.
Back float assisted (10 seconds)
- Instructor assists student’s back float, but the student must be relaxed and comfortable with ears submerged.
Wall scale 3 yards assisted
- Students scale the side of the wall while in the water to get themselves to an exit or an area they can touch. This is assisted in Level 1.
Seated jumps assisted
- Students will fall into the water from a seated position and will be assisted by the instructor to turn around and grab the wall.
Submersion and balance
- In water, waist deep for the student, students will pick up toys from the bottom of the pool. They will learn the difference between balance and buoyancy.
