Ages 6yrs-12yrs
Level objectives
Appropriate safe entry
- Students will enter the pool safely and know when it is safe to enter the water.
10 bobs unassisted
- Students will fully submerge and resurface independently.
Flutter kick 5 yards assisted w/ bubbles
- Students can use kick board or noodle. Must also have mouth and nose submerged to blow bubbles
Freestyle Arms
- Students are introduced to the arm motion used in freestyle swimming
Front glide 3 yards assisted
- With a kickboard, students extend their arms in front of them and push off the wall in a horizontal position with face submerged blowing bubbles. No kicks.
Rollovers assisted
- Students start in a front float and rotate to a back float with instructor's support
Elementary backstroke
- Students will learn the arm and leg mechanics of this safety stroke. Often referred to as “chicken, eagle, snake”.
Treading (5 seconds)
- Keeping fingers together students move arms back and forth at the surface of the water and bicycle kick in a vertical position. Chin, mouth, and nose should remain above the water.
Standing Jumps
- From a standing position students will enter the water, fully submerge and return to the wall.

- Students will safely exit the pool.
